The opulent 60-story residential skyscraper is set to become a landmark of Vancouver in multiple ways.
CURV, an international partnership between Kheng Ly, the founder of Brivia Group, architect Tom Wright, and architectural interior designer Andres Escobar, is luxury with a purpose.
Being the highest Passive House globally, it sets a higher bar for both current and future generations of occupants.
A house should be protected from the hazards of contemporary living, such as bacteria and allergies, noise pollution, and an increasingly unpredictable climate with violent storms and sudden temperature swings. With features like an impenetrable building envelope and a purifying air exchange system, the Passive House is the logical culmination of that goal. It is planned and constructed to ensure not only exquisite comfort but also the ideal circumstances for life.
Tom Wright, the principal of WKK Architects, received an invitation to submit ideas for the Burj Al Arab, a prominent hotel in Dubai, while he was still in his 30s. After he completed 11 sketches in just two weeks, the client, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the owner of Dubai, exclaimed, “We shall build it,” after taking one glance at Wright’s favored design, a soaring sail-shaped form.
Wright’s international career took off with the Burj Al Arab’s triumph, and he went on to create notable buildings in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, including Trilogy, Ad Astra, and The Gallery. In 2013.

CURV is one of the few edifices of this caliber to gift residents the use of prime, top-floor amenities—overlooking the whole city and beyond to the North Shore Mountains, the Salish Sea, the Olympic Peninsula, and the distant valleys and peaks. Named ‘The Haven’—“a refuge from this busy city” says designer Andres Escobar—CURV’s amenities are an opportunity, every day, to be restored and refreshed amongst soul-stirring views.
